1. Information We Collect

By default, MIKAGE does not transmit the contents of your files, personal information, or usage data to external servers. Scan results and detection history are stored only in a data folder on your own PC (by default, %USERPROFILE%\.shieldguard).

2. External Communication

The product communicates with external servers only for the following purposes.

• Virus definition database updates: Fetches the latest YARA rules and hash signatures from a signature repository on GitHub.
• Community threat-intelligence sharing (optional, off by default): Only if you enable it, statistical information about detected threats is sent to a shared server. Neither the files themselves nor personally identifying information is sent. This feature can be disabled at any time.
• VirusTotal integration (optional): If you configure and enable an API key, file hash values are looked up against VirusTotal.

3. Exception for the Online File Scan

Sections 1 and 2 above describe our policy for the installable products (MIKAGE Antivirus and NET). The free Online File Scan is different by necessity: the file you upload is temporarily transmitted to, and scanned directly on, a server we operate. This is a departure from the "your files never leave your device" policy that applies to our other products, so please review this before using the service.

• Uploaded files are read into memory only for the purpose of scanning and are never written to disk.
• The file's contents are discarded immediately after scanning. We retain nothing beyond the scan result itself (e.g. threat status and type).
• To prevent abuse, we temporarily count scans per connecting IP address (for at most one hour). This is used only to enforce the rate limit and is not stored or analysed.

4. Cookies & Analytics (About This Website)

We do not use cookies to track individuals ourselves (ad partners' use of cookies is described below). We do record the following aggregate statistics to understand how the site is used:

• Page view counts (daily and cumulative totals only)
• Visitor country: our servers never receive or store your IP address. We only receive the "country" already resolved by our CDN provider's (Cloudflare's) network at the time of the request, and record it as an aggregate count. No personally identifying information is retained.

This aggregate data is used solely for an internal admin dashboard to understand site usage, and is never shared with third parties or used to identify individuals.

This website uses the third-party advertising service Google AdSense. These services use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and others, in order to show ads relevant to your interests. You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google's Ad Settings or www.aboutads.info.

5. Disclosure to Third Parties

We do not disclose your information to third parties except where required by law. However, as noted above, ad delivery involves sending cookie data to our ad partner (Google AdSense).
